DLP Assessment Test Set For Implementation In October 2025 - Premier

CAMBRIDGE (UK), Wed: The Ujian Penilaian - Dual Language Programme (UP-DLP) is scheduled for implementation in October this year, the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Haji Johari Tun Abang Haji Openg revealed here, today.

The UP-DLP with science, mathematics, and English examination would involve papers to be verified and vetted by the Cambridge University Press and Assessment (CUP&A), the Premier said.

The Premier said these when giving a brief address before the signing of an agreement between the Sarawak government through MEITD and CUP&A.

The Premier said that the UP-DLP was primarily to prepare students to be proficient in English and provide them with qualifications recognised internationally while giving due emphasis to Bahasa Melayu as the national language.

While recalling the era where Senior Cambridge Certificate (SC) and Higher School Certificate (HSC) had been the standards of educational qualifications for Sarawak before the implementation of the national education policy, he said many Sarawakians today were the products of these examinations.

In a media conference held later, he said the examination would be administered by the Sarawak campus of Swinburne University.

Earlier, he witnessed the signing of Contract of Service between the Cambridge body represented by the Managing Director of Partnership for Education, Jane Mann and MEITD represented by the CEO of  Swinburne Innovation Malaysia, Professor George Ngui.

Among those present were Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Minister for MEITD, Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, State Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Ministers, Datuk Dr. Annuar Rapaee and Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, and Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department, Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali.
